We will begin our journey from Manali in the morning. We will take a car ride to reach the Beas River crossing from Manali Town. The route is slightly a difficult one behind the temple of Hadimba. After reaching a height of about 7000 ft., we have to walk on a narrow route on foot. You can feel the silence and bewilderment of the dense forest at every step.
Now, we will get a water supply from where you can fill your bottles. There is also a school in this region. We all will take a break at this spot before starting our long foot journey of 10 km. Now, we will start our long trail of 10 km that goes through Deodar forests and dense woods. We will also see many maples waving at us on this road. You might have to walk on muddy land if you are going in the monsoon.
We will stop for a lunch break and enjoy a glimpse of elegant nature. After lunch, we have to start our trail again on a steep stretch of land and walk for around 2.5 hours. As you walk further. The large trees make a clear path until you reach a considerable altitude. Now, you can see the giant Beas Valley with its wide appearance.
Finally, we will get an easier slope. We have to still walk amidst dense forests with lichens and mosses all around us. Yes, it is indeed a great challenge. Again, we will get a water pipe from where you can fill your water and continue walking along this water pipe.
After crossing several humps, we will finally see a large formed bowl with a hut of trekkers in the center. So, this region is Lamadugh and we have reached a height of 10,000 ft. Lama Dugh is the place for our overnight stay.
Today, we will again start our trek in the early hours of the morning. Slowly as you walk on your path, the sight of green grasslands will boost your motivation. You will also see how a lovely zigzag road makes its way to Rohtang Pass. Isn’t it sounding interesting to walk on this route?
You will also come across a ridge known as Khanpari Tibba standing at a height of 1000 ft. Amazing views of Dhauladhar Range and Hanuman Tibba will keep you busy throughout your trail. Walking further will give a sight of Riyali meadows.
Now, it is one of the most challenging points after a short walk. A steep descent route has to be passed by us. We have to walk on this steep path for around 1 and half hours and then for about 1 km. This route has no vegetation or flowers. It is a barren patch of land with only stones and huts of shepherds.
After walking through the stones, we will reach Riyali Thach at a height of around 11200 ft. By noon, we will reach the finish point of Riyali Thach. After a tiring journey, we will enjoy evening and night at this campsite along the surreal beauty of this region.
Just as we do on a normal day, we will start our journey in the morning. After leaving the Riyali region, we will enter the tree zone. There are several down walks on this path up to 1 km. Now, you will see Bugiyal along with a glance of Kalihani Pass. Mountain ranges will walk along with you and rivers will smile on one side of your path.
Now, we will take off our shoes and walk on stones to cross a river section. Icy water touching your feet will make it a surprising route to walk. You must take support and walk carefully on this path. It is yet not over as you will soon find a stream with glaciers.
After crossing river and stream sections, you will get a difficult climb on mountain block. You have to walk on the ridge to reach the opposite side of the mountain. After walking on the ridge, we will reach the bottom camp space at noon.
The windy atmosphere of this region makes you feel fresh. We will take sleep in tents and be ready for the next day’s adventure.
As usual, our journey will start in the early hours of the morning. Today, we have to walk on a long path to reach Kalihani Pass. Our route is full of rocks and stones that make it a little difficult for not-so-experienced trekkers. Large stones might cause joint pain and so, you must walk carefully on this path.
Walking straight on this road will offer you stunning views of Senghor Jot. Now, you will get a bit tough road ahead full of steepness. Within some time, we will reach the top area of the ridge. You can view magical ice fields from this top point. Icy bridges will create a beautiful scene in front of your eyes. Kalihani Pass is now here between these rocky ridges.
After reaching this pass, you can enjoy some time with your group and click some amazing pictures. We will again start our trail and move downwards. The weather in this region is foggy and we may also see snowy patches of land everywhere.
After crossing rock zones, we will finally reach the ground zone. Descent is easier than the ascent and we will reach Kalihani base camp by evening. We will all cherish memories of Kalihani Pass and sleep under the beautiful sky with stars glimpsing at us.
Today, we have to leave from Kalihani base camp to reach Dor Nullah. So, we will start trekking in the morning and take the same path that we took to reach Riyali Thatch before. A descent of around 200 m will take us to a stream. After crossing this stream, we will get a narrow road with rocky cliffs. You will see beautiful and colorful cliffs on this road covered by moss and lichens.
After passing this challenging route, we will view elegant meadows at Dor Nullah. Our campsite is at the top of Bugiyal or round Thach. We will spend a lovely night in our tents to get energized for the next day's trail.
Trek will begin in the early hours of the morning. We will traverse the colorful meadows and continue to walk to reach Sangchur. As you further descend, a flock of birds such as Golden Eagles and Lammergeiers will be seen flying in the sky. We have to still walk for about 2 hours on the same path to reach the tree line and edge of the meadows.
After reaching the edge of meadows, we have to walk on a narrow route with steep descents covered by bushes and shrubs. Moving downwards will give us a glance at huge valleys rising. Views will get better as you move further on this road.
The descending path will still follow us for one more hour after which we will finally see Kullu Valley with its gigantic view. This valley is huge starting right from Manali to Kullu. It is beautified with River Beas in the center thereby creating a breathtaking view. Our campsite for the night is Maheli with a backdrop of the flowing river and large valley.
As it is the last day of the trek, many memories are still rotating in our minds. But we have to end our trip today. As usual, we will begin our journey in the morning by descending the path with stones. On this path, we have to walk for about an hour. After an hour, we will enter Sangchur village.
This village is surrounded by beautiful nature and rich habitation. From this spot, we will take a car ride to reach Manali. We will reach Manali by 4 pm.
