Mount Shitidhar is also popularly known as Shiti Dhat means the 'White Peak" as it is always covered with snow all over. The peak is situated at 17,224 feet, in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, located near Manali in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India.

it is probably the best peak, if you are a experienced trekker want to shift your gear from trekking to climbing. You will get to see so many amazing views from this route like Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tinba, Indrasan Peak which is the most popular peaks of Kullu Valley. 

Climbing the Shitidhar peak require good trekking experience and technical skills and you must be fit to reach the top, In recent decades, Shitidhar has become a popular destination for both amateur and experienced mountaineers due to its relative access from Manali.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Manali

Day 1 is the day when we, along with the whole team of Broza Adventures will reach Manali which is going to be the very first major stop of our journey. After arriving in Manali, you can check some local markets. The next part of our Shitidhar trek will start from Manali itself which will be an overnight journey.

Trek from Dhundi to first camp

Day 02: Drive from Manali to Dhundi and Trek Luhali / Bakarthach 2,050 Meters to 3,280 Meters

  • Drive: Manali to Dhundi 22 kilometers. 
  • Drive duration: 1 to 1.5 hours. 
  • Trek Distance: 3.5 to 4 kilometers. 
  • Trek duration: 2.5 to 3 hours
  • Trail type:  A bit steep in the beginning followed more or less moderate hike until the base camp
  • Difficulty level: Easy

Today we are going to leave Manali to reach Luhali. While our travel journey, we will probably get some traffic near the Rohtang pass. During the road journey, you will be getting to see beautiful long roads, small villages, and fields of orchids and marijuana. You will get to see so many sheep gazing. All these views will mesmerize your eyes. If the weather at that time is clear then you will be lucky to get to see the famous Hanuman Tibba.

Luhali campsite

Day 03: Luhali to Ladyleg / Beas Kund 3,280 Meters to 3,840 Meters

  • Trek Distance: 4 kilometers. 
  • Trek duration: 3 to 4 hours approx. 
  • Trail type: steep moderate hike until the campsite. 
  • Difficulty level: moderate

On day 3, we will leave Luhali to reach Ladyleg. The base camp. of Ladyleg is a camp which is full of green meadow and besides that, you will get to see a stream which is surrounded by so many colorful flowers. The whole of the campsite is filled with snow. There are some popular peaks like Pir Panjal and also the Dhauldhar range which is seen from this campsite. Also, you will get to see Friendship peak from this campsite as it is very near to this place.

Lady leg

Day 04: Load ferry to summit camp 3,840 Meters to 4,655 Meters

  • Trek Distance: approx 6 kilometers. 
  • Trek duration: 6 to 7 hours. 
  • Trail type: Steep climb. 
  • Difficulty level: challenging

On Day 4, we will be doing the ferry on the snow. The whole day you will see roads and hills covered with white snow. It has to be you might be slipping many times due to the melting of snow everywhere so make sure you have good quality boots for trekking.

Day 05: Summit camp occupies

Day 5, will be the day when we will be attempting to reach the summit. Overnight we will be staying in our camps or tents which will again be an exciting thing to do. While you will be spending the entire night in tents, you will be hearing some scary noises of snow falling and in the morning you will see the water around is frozen everywhere.

Day 06: Shitidar peak summit & back to lady leg campsite 4,655 Meters to 5,294 Meters and back to 3,840 Meters

  • Distance: 14 kilometers. 
  • Duration: 13 to 14  hours. 
  • Climb type: Steep climb.
  • Difficulty level: challenging

On day 6, we would start the trek a little late at night. You have to be ready with your boots, equipment, and all the necessities. We would provide you with everything which would be required for your safety. The climb from Shitidar peak summit to lady leg campsite will take around 6 hours approx or maybe more depending on the speed. You along with the entire team of Broza Adventures will be reaching the top till the time of sunrise. At this point, you can enjoy the early morning view from the top along with the beautiful sunrise. However, the whole climbing process is much easier if you are a little careful.

Day 07: Back to Manali

Day 7 will be the last day of the Mount Shitidhar Expedition. We will finally set goodbye to our teammates and we will be leaving the beautiful mountains and moving towards Manali from where we all will leave for our respective destinations.

Inclusion And Exclusion

Things that are Included in Shitidhar Expedition:

1. The itinerary of the Shitidhar Expedition includes personally trained guides and team leaders who have a very good experience. 

2. Sleeping bags, tents, meals, and heater.

3. Includes forest entry and permits whenever required.

4. All kinds of trek facilities are required to make your travel journey even more comfortable.

Things that are not included in Shitidhar Expedition:

1. The expedition at Broza Adventures does not include any kind of medical expenses incurred by your side.

2. Personal photography or videography.

3. The package also excludes GST.

4. Any other kind of expenditure that is not included in the inclusions list.

5. Any kind of porter service, shopping, or laundry charges.

Essential things you must have during the Mount Shitidhar trek

1. Clothing- Talking about clothing, make sure you have good quality woolen clothes which would be enough to protect you in the cold weather otherwise you might fall sick.

2. Hand Gloves- Hand Gloves are another important thing that you must have offering the trekking journey. If you do not have hand gloves then it will be very difficult to hold things as your hand will become numb after some time especially after sunset or during the early morning time.

3. Medical necessities- Although, we at Broza Adventures provide you with all the first aid and basic medical needs in case you are under any medication then you must not forget to carry it. Also try to carry earplugs, glasses, and your toiletry essentials.

4. Footwear

Since you will be in the snow during your trekking journey so you need to carry good quality shoes and socks so that you are always at ease. Consider carrying light weighted shoes otherwise, you will face difficulty while walking.

Things you should be prepared for Before setting for Shitidhar Expedition

1. 5-7 hours of trekking in the snow while going upwards.

2. Good body fitness so that you do not feel exhausted after some hours of trekking or climbing.

3. Cold and chilly nights. You would also be required to stay in tents overnight.

4. Due to unexpected changes in the weather, we may have to return as we would not be able to move forward.

The best time for this expedition is during April-May and then again during September and October.

Is it necessary to know climbing for this expedition?

Prior experience in Climbing is not required for this expedition. However, one thing that you must have is good fitness. People suffering from ailments, pregnant women, and children are not allowed for this expedition.
