Nestled in the district of Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh, Reo Purgyil is one of the most important peaks for trekkers. It is located at an altitude of about 6817 m from the sea level. Another name of Reo Purgyil is Leo Pargial.
Reo Purgyil has a dome structure and is part of a large massif that rises above the River Sutlej. It is located adjacent to the western valley of Tibet. On the northern side of this large massif, the Spiti River flows at full speed.

Something about Reo Purgyil's peak
Located near the India-China border, Reo Purygil peak has a different beauty. It is a challenging path to reach this peak situated in a remote part of India. This peak has been lately recognized as an important trekking place for trekking lovers.
The shape of Reo Purygil is sharp and includes many rock towers. It is high on both sides and covered with snow for the whole year. Many trekkers have tried their best to reach this peak but failed. Very few people have succeeded in reaching the top of Reo Purygil peak. Nako village is the last road on this route.
Reo Purygil peak faces the harsh climate for a major part of the year. It is normally covered with snow which makes it difficult to reach this point. Climbing this mountain peak is very difficult because of very little information. But trekkers love to climb this peak and face many challenges on the way.
At night, the weather can go below zero degrees Celsius in Reo Purygil. You need good thermal wear while going on this journey. You will face low oxygen levels at this peak. So, it is necessary to carry ample oxygen cylinders to reach this peak.
Our expedition to Reo Purgyil will start from Shimla. It is a long trekking trail of 8 days starting from Shimla. Look at the full itinerary of Reo Purgyil in the below section:
On day 1, we will reach Shimla by morning. We have to drive to Kalpa and it is quite a long journey. Kalpa is a small town with immense beauty and boundless nature. It is blessed with a mesmerizing backdrop of snow-covered mountains. Your journey will be truly a thrilling one and you must take amazing images of picturesque places with your camera.
By evening, we will reach Kalpa and get into the guesthouse or hotel. We will relax for some time to freshen our minds. Our stay for the night will be in Kalpa town.
Today, we will start the trip in the early hours of the morning right after breakfast. Again, it will be a long journey and you must be mentally prepared to face some challenges on your route. From Kalpa, we will start driving in the morning and reach Chitkul. The road to Chitkul consists of rough terrain and you will get a real adventure drive to this place.
After reaching Reckong Peo, we will take a short break and start our trekking trail. We have to now trek for around 5 hours to reach Chitkul. The full road will include many ascends and descends but you will enjoy it till the end. Chitkul is a region covered with snow most of the time. It is situated at a height of about 3450 meters. It is also the last village located on the part of Tibet border.
You will also witness the Baspa River and Rakcham village while traveling to Chitkul. Huge gardens of apples will give a breathtaking sight to your eyes. We will reach Chitkul by evening and enjoy some hot snacks and tea. After dinner, we will enjoy a relaxing night's sleep in our tents.
On day 3, we have to start trekking from Chitkul in the morning. Keep in mind that we have to cover a long distance today on this trekking trail. The distance between Chitkul and Narua is around 20 km but it is a tough path.
You must carry enough water as it is a long and tiring journey. By evening, we will reach Narua. It is a beautiful place with surreal beauty. You will enjoy your time in Narua. We will have our delicious dinner and stay at Narua’s campsite.
Today, we have to again walk from Narua to the upper Chitkul region. In the morning, we will start our trail from Narua. The trail includes the ascending path towards the Upper Chitkul region. It is tough and we have to take each step carefully on the path.
We will reach Upper Chitkul by noon and take a rest in our tents. In the evening, we will have tea and dinner. We will spend some time in cold weather with a bonfire and enjoy the sweet sleep of night in our tents.
On day 5, we have to walk on the most difficult path of our trekking journey. The journey is long and covers a distance of around 18 km. At each step, the shivering cold will make your feet stop but you have to go on to reach your destination. We have to protect ourselves from cold winds and take every step carefully.
The road to Reo Purgyil is full of thrill and adventure and includes several challenging twists and turns. We will reach Reo Purygil Base Camp by evening. Take some rest and enjoy your tea time. Enjoy the wonderful nature around this base camp and capture some pictures with your camera. Take a good sleep in your tents and gain excitement to reach Reo Purgyil peak.
We will wake up with fresh energy in the morning and enjoy a delicious breakfast. After tea and breakfast, we have to start climbing to Reo Purgyil Peak. The path is not as easy as you think. It is one of the most difficult things to climb Reo Purgyil Peak. The steep slope will accompany you throughout the path.
After many tough slopes, we will finally reach the peak. It is like a dream come true for true adventurers and trekkers. Spend some time at the peak and feel the solace of this place. The silence that you feel here cannot be found anywhere in the world. After some time, we will leave the peak and start walking again to reach our base camp. By night, we will reach back to Base Camp. Our stay for the night will be again in Reo Purygil base camp.
In the morning, our trek will start from the Reo Purgyil base camp. Now, we have to walk down towards Narua town. The slope is steep and you have to be careful while walking down.
The journey from Reo Purgyil base camp to Narua town is around 18 km. We will reach Narua town by evening. We will enjoy tea and spend nature in the beautiful nature of Narua town. Our night stay is in Narua.
