Manimahesh trek is also known as Manimahesh Kailash Yatra, one of the most famous religiosity and sacred place which attracts approx ten thousand of people every year. The Manimahesh Lake is situated at the base of Mountain Kailash which is also a religion place for Lord Shiva. Some years ago, the pilgrims used to start their devotional journey from the famous Lakshmi Narayan Temple which is situated at Chamba but now in the recent years with some developments, now you can take up taxi or a bus for a ride which will bring you upwards.

Every year, the state celebrates with a pilgrimage which is usually arranged during the month of August to September which is called the Manimahesh Kailash Yatra which lasts for approx 15-20 days during the time of Janmasthami. For all the nature lovers out there, you would love the Manimahesh Trekking journey as it is known to be one of the most beautiful treks among the Himalayas. 

Best time for Manimahesh Trek

The months till June is full of snow at this location which will make your Manimahesh Yatra and trekking journey very uncomfortable not so good. Instead the best time to do the Manimahesh Yatra is during the end of August when there is negligible snowfall, also the weather is perfectly fine with no harsh weather conditions. Also the month of September is also a good choice where the day temperature would be somewhere around 12-20°C. However, you must note that the night can be chilly during the month of September and the temperature might fall below -5°C.

Detail Itinerary

Bharmour

Day 01:  Arrive at Pathankot and Drive to Bharmour via Chamba

  • Driving Distance: 185kms 
  • Driving Duration: 9 hours
  • Altitude: 2,200 meters

On Day 1 arrival at Pathankot which is the nearest railway station, meet our representative and drive from Pathankot to Bharmour via chamba is approximately 180kms and it takes around 8 hours by road to reach Bharmour. After reaching Bharmour, checkin to our hotel and take rest and spend leisure time or visit the 84 Chaurasi Temple which is in the center of Bharmour and has religious significance because of the temples built around 1400 years ago. acclimatization for moving to a higher altitude next day.

Day 02: Drive from Bharmour to Hadsar and trekking to Dhancho

  • Driving Distance: 13 kms
  • Driving Duration: 40 mins by taxi
  • Trek Distance: 7 kms
  • Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours
  • Altitude: 2,300 meters

Today  get up early in the morning to have the hearty breakfast, served by our team. Cheout from hotel and drive to Hadsar which is a nearby town, Hudsar is the last point for transport, road ends here.it will take around 30 mins to reach there by road from Bharmour. Hadsar is a very small village which has mountains all around.

Start our trek from Hadsar to Dhancho. It will be a 6-8 hours of treks where we take frequent breaks so that the trek becomes very smooth. Also, the Duration of the trek might change depending upon the weather conditions. After a couple of hours of trek and a hearty meal together, We will head towards the brick bridge that will eventually lead to Dhancho, where we will see the beautiful Dhancho Waterfall. We will reach our campsite here to spend the rest of the night.

Trek to manimahesh kailash

Day 03: Dhancho to Manimahesh Lake Trek

  • Trek Distance: 7 kms
  • Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours
  • Altitude: 4080 meters

Today morning after breakfast, pack your bags and take packed lunch and trek to Manimahesh lake, trek passing through the Valley which will be full of beautiful and colorful flowers, also you would find variety of trees and shrubs. Manimahesh Lake is situated at an altitude of 14500 ft. . You will get enough time to experience the nature and while you are surrounded by the majestic Himalayan peak. Also, you can perform any kind of ritual that you want to perform. After having some food and spending some time admiring the beauty of the lake, leave for the destination for overnight stay at Gauri Kund Base Camp.

Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh) is a high altitude lake (elevation 4,080 m (13,390 ft)) located close to the Manimahesh Kailash peak.

Day 04: Trek to Hadsar Drive to Bharmour 

  • Trek Distance: 14 kms
  • Trek Duration: 7 hours
  • Driving Distance: 13 kms
  • Driving Duration:  1 hours
  • Altitude: 2240 meters 

Today early morning after breakfast and take packed lunch and Trek down to Hudsar 14 km trek, During the trek, we will trek again across the beautiful landscapes and snow capped mountains. Once we all reach Hadsar,  from Hudsar drive back to Bharmour and arrival at Bharmour hotel. After a good tak some rest, you can explore the local markets and also buy some local stuffs for family and friends. Once you return back to the hotel room, where you can share your journey with your fellow trekkers and have a good time together. This will be our last day together, Overnight at Bharmour.

Day 05: Bharmour to Chamba Khajjiar to Pathankot

  • Driving Distance: 180kms
  • Driving Duration: 8 hours

Our journey of trekking ends on Day 5 and we will have our last breakfast together and check out from our hotel room and drive back to reach Pathankot. Reaching Pathankot will take us approximately 7-8 hours. From here you can take your journey as per your preferred location with lots of memories in your heart which you will definately cherish throughout your life.
