The Manali to Leh Cycling Expedition is a true adventure for all the adventure lovers out there. This is one of the most popular cycling adventure places and is full of thrilling experiences and different kinds of challenges that you will love. It is to be noted that even if you are an adventure lover, you will have to push your mind and body to reach the end. On an approximate basis, it will be a 9-day journey where we will start from Manali and end at Leh.

The best time to go cycling to Leh

If you are looking to do a cycling adventure to Leh then the best month is during June to September.  At this time weather is just favorable and are open from everywhere. If you choose the monsoon season that is July and August then the weather is not at favorable as the roads are blocked and closed due to danger zones. So the best time is during the June to September month.

Temperature during the Cycling Adventure

June - In June, you will find temperatures around 15-25°C which might drop as we go up. During g the night, the temperature can be as low as 5°C for which you will need good warm clothes.

July - If you are planning a trip during July, you will find the temperature just the same as the June month however, you might find the afternoons more warmer and peaceful. The night temperature is just the same as during June.

August - During the daytime, you will find temperatures around 20-25°C however the nights are cool and the temperature decreases as the altitude increases.

September - As September is the autumn season you will find a drop in the morning to afternoon temperature which is around 10-15°C. The nights are really cold from this month and the temperature can go as low as 1°C.

Detail Itinerary

Cycling to leh ladakh

Day 01: Arrival at Broza Adventures Camp Solang Valley

  • Altitude: 2,560m approximately 
  • Duration: This day we would be spending the entire day in Solang doing some fun activities and acclimatizing ourselves.

On day 1, after arrival, we would spend some time together so that we could get to know each other better. On this Day we would be arriving in Solang Valley which is situated in Manali and we would be spending the night here to acclimatize to the weather and and try to explore the surroundings. On the first day itself, we would try to brief you about the cycling adventure so that we do not waste time the next day on briefing activities. 

Our team guides and leaders will also guide you about the safety and other health-related ideas that you should take care of and keep in mind. Post all of these activities, we will have a good hearty and hot meal and call it a day and have a good and tight sleep so that we are energetic for the next day.

Day 02: Solang Valley To Sissu

  • Altitude: 3,200m approximately 
  • Duration: 6-8 hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 80km

The next day, after a good breakfast, we would be leaving early for our way to Sissu. We would be starting our cycling journey from here. After starting the journey, you will find a beautiful valley and mesmerizing roads. Sissu is a small village which is situated in Manali and known for its picturesque view all over. People come here and click a lot of pictures. The day is considered a relatively easier day. 

We would also be stopping for lunch after some time. After some time, as you move up, you will find fewer trees and you will start getting a great view of the mountains. We would be reaching Sissu between 3 and 4 pm after a long cycling distance. After reaching here, we would be spending some time together and after having our dinner, we would be staying in our tents and snug in our blankets for the night.

Day 03: Sissu To Jispa

  • Altitude: 3,200m approximately
  • Duration: 6-7hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 50km

Morning is cool here and you might find it lazy to get out of your bed but trust us, it is worth it. After breakfast, we will be starting our cycle journey from Sissu To Jispa and we will be covering a distance of almost 55 km. During the cycling journey, you will find that the area is dry and full of bumpy roads. This shows that you are in a really cold region. So, Jispa is a small and very peaceful village where you will find very less houses and fewer people. The shops present there are selling only the basic things. Before moving forward, we would take a small break to have enough water and food so that we stay hydrated and full of energy in the further part of the adventure.

As you move forward towards Jispa, you will see the famous Mt Keylong which has a Peak of almost 600 Mt and is known to be one of the most favorite spots among trekkers. We would reach Jispa around the afternoon time where we will have our lunch and stay in our tents after a tiring cycling session. Enjoy the view of the place today and fuel up your body for the next day to Zing Zingbar.

Day 04: Jispa-Zing Zing Bar

  • Altitude: 4,200m approximately/14,000 feet
  • Duration: 5-7 hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 40km

After a great sleep, it's time to again set for a new journey. After a good hot tea and breakfast, on Day 4, we would be heading towards Zing Zing Bar which will be our campsite. This Day is going to be adventurous as we have to be mentally and physically strong throughout the journey. It is still important to stay hydrated for a smooth journey. As we move further. we would be coming across Darcha which is known to be a small town where there are many local Dhabas where you can try local food. After some more cycling on the way, we would come across Deepak Tal which is a famous blue Lake. 

We would spend some time here maybe and then move further to our final destination for Day 4 which is Zing Zing Bar. Zing Zing Bar is a place where you can have a hot meal and finally, we would be spending the rest of the evening in our tents with some activities and lots of fun with the whole team.

Day 05: Zing Zing Bar to Brandy Nallah via Baralacha La

  • Altitude: 4,800m approximately/16,000 feet
  • Duration: 7-9 hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 50km

Day 5 is going to be long and tiring Dat as we will be surpassing the second-highest peak of the whole adventure trek. We would be leaving from Zing Zing Bar to reach Baralacha La which is a mountain with a peak of almost 4850 M. As we move forward, you will find that the roads are bumpy, and some are under construction but clean everywhere. Cycling at this point is challenging for few but our leaders will always be there with you to guide you. As we move forward, you will find huge mountains on the way which is a sign that we have come a long way in our journey.

Day 06: Brandy Nallah-Nakee La - Lachulung La to Pang padhar

  • Altitude: 4700m approximately/16,600feet
  • Duration: 7-9hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 50km

On Day 6, we would be having our breakfast a bit early in the morning and start from Brandy Nallah via Lachung La. As we move further in our journey, we will find that the roads here are not smooth however you will find it exciting. The landscape view that you will be getting here is phenomenal. The whole Duration of day 6 in cycling would be around 8 hours after reaching Pang we would be having a sumptuous meal at night and doze off to our beds to get the much-needed rest after a long and adventurous day.

Day 07: Pang to Debring

  • Altitude: 4,270m approximately/14,000 feet
  • Duration: 6-8hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 60km

On Day 7, we would be traveling from Pang to Debring which would require us to clear 80kms approximately. The adventure here is relatively easier than before. We would be arriving at Debring region by evening time and after a good dinner together, we would be spending the entire night under the sky full of stars and call it a night camping day. We would also engage in some fun activities.

Day 08: Debring to Rumtse

  • Altitude: 4,000m approximately/ 13,000 feet
  • Duration: 6 hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 60km

The next morning,  we would be moving forward from Debring after a good breakfast to reach Rumtse. As you move forward, you will experience the changing landscape. After reaching Rumtse, you can explore the local area and then finally switch to your bed for a good night's sleep before we head for our final day the next morning.

Day 09: Rumtse to Leh

  • Altitude: 3,500m approximately 
  • Duration: 5-7 hours approximately 
  • Distance: Approximately 70km

Day 9 is going to be the final day of our trek where we will be heading to Leh from Rumtse. On this day, we would be leading to the mesmerizing view of the city of Leh. On our way, you will get lots and lots of places which are full of beautiful lakes and valleys. Also, the environment here is cool, quiet, and soothing, away from the city life where you will feel like staying for even longer. After arrival in Leh, we would be celebrating the completion of our

This is going to be our last day of the cycling adventure. We are going to click lots of pictures. After a good hearty last breakfast together, we would be going to check out from the hotel accommodation. Depending on your further travel plans, you can continue to explore the views of Ladakh or you can head home after a tiring and adventurous adventure. Things to carry for cycling from Manali to Leh

When you are going on the cycling adventure to Leh, you have to make sure that you are carrying all the important things along with you otherwise you might feel difficulties while you are on the adventure. You must have all the essentials when you are at such a high altitude because at such places there are very limited shops and facilities. Here is a list of some of the most important items that you should have when you are cycling with us:-

1. Cycling gears - You should consider having your repair kit as your whole adventure will come to a halt if there is an issue with your cycle. Other important things are having good and tough quality tires, lights, and pumps.

2. Proper clothing - The temperature will be cool at night time and since we will be staying in tents during the adventure you must carry enough warm clothes to protect your body from the cold. Also, it is important to carry a waterproof bag, a jacket, and a pair of gloves.

3. Packed food items - We will be providing you with your meals and breakfast however, you must carry some packed foods in your bags like biscuits, energy bars, ORS, energy drinks, and some nuts. These are very helpful while you are on the adventure with us.

4. Water bottles - It is very important to stay hydrated throughout the journey. If you are properly hydrated then you might feel sick and uncomfortable.  So carry your water bottles so that you do not have to ask for water from others.

5. Miscellaneous items - The Miscellaneous items in this list would include carrying sunscreen, good quality sunglasses, and your daily medications, if any.

A. You can simply rent a bike or cycle if you do not have your own. We would recommend you rent it from a reputed legal agency only.

A. No, the place is at a high altitude, and only the people who love doing such kind of adventure come to this region. Thus, the place is never crowded.

Q. What are the health criteria?

A. You should be physically and mentally fit. Also, children and pregnant women are not allowed for this adventure. Also, you should disclose to us if you have any major health issues.
