Are you looking for a challenging climb? So let's join Mt. Indrasam Peak Expedition, Nestled at an altitude of 6222 meters, Indrasan Peak is a peak that is worth a climb in your life. The entire expedition to Mount Mount Indrasan is a challenging climb that starts with tough ascents. Steep slopes and rocky terrains, steep ice and rock faces, making it a highly technical ascent that requires advanced mountaineering skills. will make you tired at every moment but the zest to reach at peak won’t let you down.

Slowly and steadily as you reach the upper part of the peak, the magnificent views of snow-covered mountains of pir panjal range and Dhauladhar range will keep you motivated throughout the expedition. Remember, this expedition is a long trip taking 18 full days to reach at top of the peak and desend back to Manali.

Before you start your expedition, it is necessary to know about the peak in detail. Mount Indrasan is one of the highest technical mountain peaks that are 6222 meters tall. Located near Manali in the Himalayan ranges, this peak gives a perfect panoramic view of the various mountain peaks.

To complete this full expedition, need to be well-prepared for a mix of rock climbing, ice climbing, and dealing with high-altitude conditions. And also required enthusiasm, strength, encouragement, and readiness to accept challenges. This exhilarating yet thrilling journey starts in Manali, let's talk about history of The first successful ascent of Mount Indrasan was made in 1962 by a Japanese expedition led by K. Takahashi. Since then, the peak has seen relatively few ascents due to its technical difficulties. There is some routes of this expedition, But we get this expedition done through the same route as Deo Tibba Expedition. Which is a little better than other routes, Let us further with this long journey and discuss the expedition in detail to make it a successful expedition.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1

Day 01: Arrival in Manali and drive to Solang Valley

On day 1, you will have to arrive at Manali on your own. We will pick you from Manali to Solang Valley Camp/Hotel, Keep your gear and trekking equipment ready to start this exciting journey. After some rest and freshenup, Get some physical training and exercises before starting trek. Introduce yourself to the team members and know the important tips of our mountaineers and guides. acclimatization around Solang Valley and overnight stay in Solang Valley. 

Day 02: day hike to Patalsu

It is day 2 and we will start the day hike after breakfast from Solang Valley. Weave to hike for a distance of around 12 km to reach Patalsu Peak. The trek is quite moderate and located at an altitude of 13,990 ft. It is an acclimatization and enjoyable trek with the joy of viewing meadows, alpine forests, and cloud-kissing mountain peaks. Reaching Patalsu Peak is a thrilling experience as it offers to the peaks such as Mount Indrasan, Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, Kullu Valley, and Friendship Peak.

After reaching Patalsu Peak, we will spend a few hours and start our return journey to Solang Valley. It is a descent to Solang Valley where we will spend the night in hotel/campsite. Have dinner and take a good amount of rest to get ready for the next day’s thrilling expedition.

Day 03: Drive from Solang Valley to Khanol and Trek to Chikka 3123m

We will start the morning expedition after breakfast from Solang Valley campsite. We have to  drive from Solang Valley to Khanol and then we have to trek to reach Chikka. 

The full trek from Khanol to Chikka includes views of dense forest areas, Duhangan Nala, and open pastures. The journey continues along the banks of Duhangan Nala. A gradual trek will take you to the beautiful Chikka region where you can view many open pastures.

As you reach Chikka, many huts and a temple are visible from the campsite. You can explore many big boulders in this region that make it more beautiful for a view. Our campsite for the night is Chikka.

Day 04: Chikka to Seri (3870m) 

Pack your bags and start your trekking from Chikka after breakfast. Today, we have to trek all the way from Chikka to Seri which has no much distance . Traverse through the mixed forests and trek through the tree line spread at Seri. This route has several alpine meadows that are worth seeing and capturing with your camera.

The time required to reach Seri from Chikka is around 7 hours. We will reach Seri campsite by noon and take a rest in the camps. Explore the Seri and relax yourself. Our accommodation for the night is at Seri campsite.

Day 05: Seri to Deo Tibba Base Camp (4156m) 

In the morning, we will start our trek from Seri campsite and go towards Tenta Base Camp. This is a bit difficult route covered with river crossings and walking at a higher altitude. You will need some techniques to complete this trek from start to end. This route involves many switchbacks and hiking on Tenta cliffs.

We will reach Tenta Base Camp by noon and start accommodating in the tents. Take lunch and rest for some time. Then we will do a small hike to the Chota Chandratal Lake which is located at a distance of only 300 meters from Tenta base camp. Click some pictures of the surreal beauty of Chandratal Lake and come back to the base camp by night. Enjoy dinner and sleep to relax your body for the next day’s expedition.

Day 06: Load ferry Deo Tibba Base to Duhangan Col Advanced Base Camp (4500m) and back to Base Camp

Today, we will move to the higher altitude of Advanced Base Camp through a load ferry. It is a camp shifting technique on the mountain. We will ultimately reach Duhangan Col by ferry within a few hours. After reaching the Advanced Base Camp, we will spend some time at a great altitude with our group. 

Start your return journey to Tenta Base camp. By night, we will reach Tenta Base camp and get a good sleep in the beautiful natural habitat.

Day 07: Training at Deo Tibba Base Camp  and Move to Advanced Base Camp 4500m – Tenta

On day 7, we will have a training day at Tenta. Under this training, you have to take the same route as on day 7. It includes hiking on the same route to Advanced Base Camp. This hiking needs a lot of practical training such as rope work, rescue techniques, and others.

We will return to Tenta Base Camp by noon. The rest of the day is for acclimatization. Get used to the local weather and take a good amount of rest in tents to get prepared for the next day's summit. 

Day 08: Load ferry, Camp Shifting and Summit Push Preparation

Today, you have to prepare yourself for the further journey. As normal, we will start our expedition in the morning and load the ferry. The route we have to take is the same as the day 7. Later, our trekking guide will train every group member to get ready for the next day’s summit.

At noon, we will practice walking on snow and some technical skills to climb at an altitude. This training is necessary for climbing at various peaks. Take good rest to relax your mind and body.

Day 09: Ascend through the gully, beyond Duhangan Col

On day 9, we have to walk up through the gully and go beyond Duhangan Col. After reaching Duhangan Col, we will walk along the glacier to reach Camp 1. The road from Camp 1 to Camp 2 is a climb and we have to walk through the glacier to reach a saddle between Deo Tibba and Indrasan. This whole journey offers a surreal experience of walking on glaciers with the backdrop of huge mountain peaks.

We will then set up our summit camp at the Indrasan base. Later, we will continue our summit on the West Ridge of the mountain. During the summit, you will enjoy the views of Deo Tibba and Kullu peaks. Click some pictures on your camera and spend some moments admiring the beauty of the place. We will further start our return trip to reach Camp 1. Although it is an exhilarating trip, you will still get enormous joy by climbing this summit.

Day 10-11: Load ferry to Piton Ridge back to Duhangan Col

On days 10 and 11, we will carry out load ferry activities and do preparations for the further trip. Your body will receive enough training on days 10 and 11 to complete the gradual climb on the glaciers. Training of 2 days will make you ready for a challenging climb that will take us to Camp 2. Take good rest to prepare for the climb of the next day.

Day 12: Gradual climb through the glacier to Camp 2

As usual, our expedition will start in the morning after breakfast. We have to complete an exhausting part today by moving towards the saddle between the Indrasan base and Deo Tibba. Our summit camp for the day is at Indrasan Base.

Improve some of your technical skills for the summit push. Relax in your tents after completing the journey of the day.

Days 13-14: Camp 2 to Summit Camp and Adaptable Days

Days 13 and 14 are reserved as adaptable days. These days are for acclimatization and training you to go ahead on the route. We will further load the ferry to reach the summit point. Every trekker must take enough rest to relax their body and prepare for a further challenging one.

Day 15-16: Summit push and back to Duhangan Col

Start your journey in the morning after breakfast. Today, we have to prepare our minds to complete the most challenging summit of the expedition. Walk the toughest terrains to reach the Indrasan Peak summit. This is truly an amazing trek that you will never experience again in the future.

As you climb towards the summit, it feels like a dream come true. Reach the summit and enjoy this significant moment with your team. Spend some time and capture these special moments with your camera. Start descending to reach Camp 2. Spend the rest of the day at your campsite with your group members.

Day 17: Descend from Duhangan Col to Seri

In the morning, we will start walking down from Duhangan col to Seri. This is the second last walk of your expedition. Focus on the journey and enjoy it with panoramic views of the region. We will take the same route that we took in the past. Our campsite for day 17 is Seri.

Day 18: Seri to Manali

Day 18 is the last day of the expedition. We will drive and trek on the route in a similar way that we took from 1 to 3. We will reach Manali by noon. Finally, all the group members will depart from Manali on their own routes. You can enjoy a short trip to the nearby attractions in Manali for a day or two with your friends.
