Hanumangarh Trek

The Hanumangarh Trek is very short trek near Bir, abd the name Hanumangarh spells bravery and positive vibes of God Hanuman and the trek there affirms the spirit. There is one Hanumangarh in Rajasthan but the one famous for trekking is situated her in Bir, Himachal Pradesh. Beautifully placed in the lap of Dhauladhar Ranges, Hanumangarh is a heaven for adventure enthusiasts. Hanumangarh is the summit of a mountain located near Bir Billing. The valley has the best flora and fauna that can cast a spell on anyone. For bird watchers and nature lovers there is so much to explore and observe. Hanumangarh is under a wildlife sanctuary. Hanumangarh gives a 360 degree view of the Dhauladhar mountain ranges. Hanumangarh is the tallest mountain peak of the range and during the clear weather it presents the spectacular view of Badagran, Nalhota,Thati, Kothi Kohad, and Bir. Interestingly, one can get a stunning view of the surrounding passes like Nohru Pass, Thamsar Pass, Jalsu Pass, China Pass, and Sari Pass. Hanumangarh  is the definition of peace and tranquil, the nearest human habitation is 5 km away in Rajgundha.    

Best Time To Do Hanumangarh Trek

The cold chilling weather of Hanumangarh welcomes the trekkers year around. Though the valley is abundantly blessed with natural beauty throughout the year and presents stunning experiences in different seasons:

Summer season (from March to June) - looking for the best place and experience to beat the summer heat. The temperature here is cool during the summer months. The summer months start here from March and end by June. The air is cool and has a unique calmness that soothes the mind and soul. It's the season to wander between the green fields. It is best to wear half-sized clothes but then it is advised to carry warm clothes for the early and late hours of the day. It could rain during the summer months which are often followed by hailstorms.  

Monsoon season ( from July to mid-september)- monsoons here start from July to mid september. There are heavy rains here during these months. The roads and bridges over the river collapsed due to heavy rainfall. During these months landslides are common here and the temperatures soars down as compared to the summer months.  Despite the problems that weather poses it is considered as the best season for trekking by the professional trekkers. The reason that attracts them is the breathtaking beauty of the Thamsar Pass Trek.

Winter season (from October to February) - the winter season starts here in October and ends in February. During the winter months the season gets coldest. Despite the bone-chilling winds the weather is perfect to explore Hanumangarh. The valley is covered with snow and the view is magnificent. During these months one can see snowfall, thus carrying warm clothes and snowshoes are compulsory. The area is covered deep in snow thus if the trekking route has 8 to 10 inch deep snow then trekking is postponed. However, once in lifetime go for the winter trek it will give you memories to cherish for the rest of your lives.

Weather and Temperature in Hanumangarh trek:

Hanumangarh Trek is a high altitude trek so the weather remains cool in most of the months. Mostly the days are a little warmer as compared to the nights. The summer months are slightly warm as compared to the winter thus as per season the trekkers should prepare them. 

Temperature depends on the weather. 

During the winter the temperature drops to 0 degree celsius to  minus 9 degree celsius.

During the summer the temperature is slightly high as the summer sun is out. The temperature is 6 to 12 degrees celsius. The nights have temperatures of 0 to 5 degree celsius.

Day 01: Bir Biling to Hanumangarh Trek, night stay at Hanumangarh

  • Altitude: 3200 mts
  • Drive: Bir Biling to drive to the nearest point to start trek
  • Trek Distance: 6.2 kms
  • Trek Time: three to four hours
  • Trail Type: Rocky, and steep trail
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Water Source: there are few sources of water thus it is advised to carry your own drinking water. 

Pick up at 6 AM and drive to the Mata Maheshwari temple point to start the trek. The drive is of one and a half an hour, where you get to know about the fellow trekkers and we prepare you for the beautiful trek ahead. The drive is full of picturesque views and will leave you speechless. 

Once we reach the point the trek starts. We trek for an hour and then stop at the Chhina Pass. here you savour the most delicious and energetic breakfast. Click some pictures while having a gala time. After an hour of chilling we start the trek. We again trek for an hour and then stop to refuel our energies and click some beautiful pictures.again start the trek to Hanumangarh. By 12:30 or 1 o'clock we rest for a while at the base of Hanumangarh trek.   After the break the trek starts again and we trek straight to Hanumangarh. It is expected that by 2 o’clock we reach the top and be a part of Himachali tradition. The tradition is to pay respect to the hi;ll top for letting us safely climb and reach the top. Let the 360 degree panoramic view of the whole area mesmerize you. Enjoy the chirping of birds amidst the glaciers and snow covered peaks. Spend the night here and gorge on some delicious food. Options to try Himachali local cuisine is available. Make memories to last a lifetime around the bonfire. Rest comfortably through the night and the trek back to Billing is equally adventurous.

Day 02: Trek back from Hanumangarh to Biling and departure

  • Altitude: 3200 mts
  • Drive: Bir Biling to drive to the nearest point to start trek
  • Trek Distance: 6.2 kms.Trek Time:  four to five hours
  • Trail Type: Rocky, and steep trail. The trail downhill is further challenging so we need to gear up.
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Water Source: there are few sources of water thus it is advised to carry your own drinking water. From Hanumangarh top one can buy mineral package water. 

Start the day as the morning Sun at Hanumangarh warms you. Quick tea or coffee is served and we start the trek back to Billing, by 7:30. We trek for an hour to reach our breakfast joint. Enjoy the food, click some pictures and rest for a while. Start the trek again for an hour to reach Chhina Pass and then again rest for a while and enjoy the food. Thereafter reach Bir and from there move towards the drop point. Here the two day Hanumangarh Bir trek comes to an end.
