Who would not like to go on a trek which also consists of an alpine lake and so much beauty? Exploring the Brahmatal trek is an incredible experience and a treat to your eyes. Even during the winter season, the Brahmatal Trek remains fully accessible and you can easily enjoy trekking at this place without any safety issues.
Known as one of the treks, the Brahmatal trek is one such trek that you cannot miss at any cost. While you trek in this region, you will find deep forests and snow-capped mountains, beautiful campsites, and many other beautiful places that are worth exploring.
You will feel as if you are living your dream and you would wish you could stay there forever. Another best thing about the Brahmatal trek is that it is accessible for both beginners as well as freshers.
The best time for the Brahmatal Trek is during the time of November to March. This is a perfect time since the weather is not too harsh so you would get the chance to explore many other places. However, if you are someone who loves snow then you can plan your trip towards late December which is also a good time for snow lovers.
On the very first day, we will start our journey from Rishikesh. You will be picked up by our team early in the morning and then we will finally start our journey to Lohajung which is a base place for the whole trek. Lohajung is a village located almost 250 kms away and it will take up to around 10 hours to reach that place.
While we will be driving from Rishikesh to Lohajung, you will see many beautiful landscapes and mountains. Also, you will get to see the beautiful River Ganga. Lohajung is a village which is situated at a bit higher altitude so you can expect it to be a bit on the colder side or maybe there can be rainy or foggy weather. Therefore, it is advisable to pack proper clothes so that you can adjust accordingly.
We will be trekking to Bekaltal which is going to be the very first day of our trekking. We will start to trek from the Lohajung to our Betakal campsite. You will be provided and served with a hot breakfast which will definitely refresh your mood and then with full energy we will start our trek.
While trekking, you will get to see the beauty of Mt.Nanda Ghunti. We will be passing our way through the dense forest of Oak and Fir and finally stop at the Betakal Campsite which is almost 5 hours of the trek. Along with the whole team, you will be staying overnight in the tents. During the trek, you will be able to spot the famous Kali Village and also Pandari Village. After 2 hours of the trek, you will find a long wooden bridge and a stream flowing underneath which again gives an amazing view.
Further, you get to see some more streams and also a site where you get to see a lot of rare birds. Finally, after some minutes of walking, we will get to see the beautiful sunset which will also be the end of the second day after which you will get your meals.
Day 3 will be a 7 km of walk in which we will start to reach the Brahmatal. We will be traversing through deep forests full of oak trees and also some great views of the Himalayas and some more snow-capped mountains until we finally reach our campsite. We will be starting our Day 3 from Bekaltal with a hot breakfast. As we start the trek, you might feel some difficulty as it is a steep climb but slowly and gradually the climb will become very easy. It is to be noted that during the start of our trek, we will be passing through very dense forests so you would not get a source of water or sunlight here. After some hours, we will be reaching the Telindi Top from where you will get an amazing view of the two mountains that are Mt.Ghunti and Trishula. Soon we'll be reaching the Jhandi top which is also the highest point here and from where we will descend towards Brahmatal.
On reaching the campsite, we will be arranging our tents and next you can also go to explore the nearby lakes. The night here is very cold. make sure you have good woolen clothes packed with you.
Day 4 is the main day of our trek and today we will be going to the highest peak point of our trek. From the mountain ridges, it takes around 3 hours to reach the Brahmatal Top which unfolds the scenic beauty, snow-capped mountains, and an exotic view from the top. After starting the trek, you will get to see the beautiful Lake and further a ridge. All of these might be covered with snow if you are visiting during the end of November or the month of December.
We will be passing through the ridges also which are covered with snow. For assistance, you will be provided with Microspikes by the team. After trekking again for more than 2 hours, what you are going to see will blow your mind. You will be reaching the peak and the amazing view from the mountains awaits you and welcomes you on the Top. At this point, you will find several other mountain peaks.
From this top, we will again be descending downwards which will take approximately 3 hours. We will now be passing the valleys which might again be covered with snow and after reaching our campsites you will be provided with a hearty hot dinner which will make your day.
On our 5th day, we will be descending again to our base camp that is Lohajung which takes around 4 hours. While we descend, we will be getting to see several oak trees and deep forests again. You may also encounter the shepherd huts which are made by the locals.
After reaching, you can enjoy the sunsets again from the Lohajung as it is very mesmerizing. Next up you can also head towards the local market to buy yourself some souvenirs or other local stuff after which you are served with a hot dinner.
Day 6 is the last day of the trek and on this day we will be driving from Lohajung to Rishikesh which is the nearest location. The drive is around 250 km and it takes around 10 hours. From Rishikesh, we will be heading to our respective locations and we will bid goodbye to the entire team.
1. Is the trek advisable for beginners?
The Brahmatal Trek is okay for both beginners as well as experienced candidates. However, since the trek becomes a little difficult towards the end, it is always advisable for the trekkers to maintain good physical health and fitness.
2. Who is not allowed to join the trek
People who are suffering from major health issues like asthma, high blood pressure, and heart problems. Also, pregnant women are not allowed to go.
3. When can we expect snow in the Brahmatal Trek?
To find the snow you need to visit the Brahmatal Trek during December, January, and February.
4. Is keeping some luggage at the base camp allowed?
Yes, it is allowed. You can leave some luggage behind but make sure that we are not liable for any of your land.
