Well, now you need not worry about taking any wrong decision as we are dropping down some great tips and guides which you should consider before you are choosing your very first trek.
1. Choose the right destination
When you are going for your very first trek, make sure that you do not choose a relatively tough trek. Since you are a beginner so you should make sure that your body, mind, and soul must fulfill all the trekking. Here is a list of some of the easiest treks:-
• Beas Kund Trek- This is one of the most famous treks around the region of Manali. This place has always been famous for trekkers. The main reason why people love this place is that the place is filled with greenery all around along with some beautiful mountains and hills. This trek can also be done by beginners who are going for the trek for the first time.
• Bhrugu Lake Trek- This is a type of trek that can be done by both beginners and experienced people. With the green landscape and the mountains filled with snow, you will feel mesmerized. It is a three days trek from Manali.
• Patalsu Peak Trek- Another famous trek that is also accessible for beginners is the Patalsu Peak Trek. The peak starts from the Solang Nallah and after the start of the trek, you will find an amazing view of nature. During the summit, you will also get a glimpse of Hanuman Tibba, Friendship peak, and other wonderful summits which are also very famous tourist spots.
2. Decide between a solo trip or a group trip
Yes, you heard that right! Who said that you can't go solo on a trek? So after you pick up a destination, think about whether you wish to go solo or with your buddies. Going solo is never a bad option. You just have to enjoy your company and there are no limitations. You feel more alive. However, a trek with a bunch of friends and relatives is also never a bad option.
If you are starting solo, check all the details beforehand so that there is no issue while you are on your trek. In case you face any difficulty you can always approach the locals.
3. Understand how to fit you before the trek
Before setting out for your first trek it is very important to understand how to fit you inside and out. You have to understand whether you will be able to run or move up the hills or not. The main motive is to complete the entire without getting sick. Mainly the treks which are of 7-11 days of duration are comparatively difficult to cover as compared to the treks of shorter duration. As a fresher, it is always suggested that you choose a trek that is shorter in duration.
Before going for a trek, made your body adaptable to walking atleast 5-6 hours a day so that you do not face issues later and the whole trek becomes smooth for you.
4. Decide your budget
It is very normal to understand your finances before setting for any trekking. Everyone has a budget and it is always wise that you stay within your budget. Before you plan anything take note of how much you are willing to spend and what is your maximum budget. Based on this budget planning, plan your destination, hotels, trips, and adventures. Spending more than your budget is not a good idea as you will regret your trek later which is not a good idea.
Always spend wisely while you are on a trek. Always avoid fancy eating places rather choose the locals as they are more pocket friendly. Thunk from a trekker's point of view and not from a mindset of a foodie.
5. What do you want to see
When you are heading for your first trek, you must look for ways to explore yourself. In India, the Himalayas is the best place if you are a mountain lover and trying to explore as much as possible. You have to understand what are you doing, trek or adventures?
Things that you should completely avoid during your first trek
• Carrying extra baggage- Carrying extra luggage like clothes and other things are a waste of time and energy. We always tend to overpack things that are not required. So, it is always advisable to carry fewer clothes so that you stay light and it does not become a burden.
• Carrying the wrong clothes- You are going on a trek and you have to keep that in mind. Carrying clothes like tight or heavy jeans, or other uncomfortable clothing is not a good idea while you are going for a trek. Try to carry only those which are light, super comfortable somewhat thick to protect you from the winter.
• Don't carry too many toiletries-Trekkers tend to carry extra toiletries like shampoo, fash wash, and other things which always adds extra baggage. It is always recommended that you carry everything in small sachets so that it is easy to carry them.
• Don't race while you are on a trek
Trekking is for fun and it's not a race for which you will get a reward for completing first. Walk slowly and steadily while you are on a trek and make sure you take adequate breaks and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Click on your favorite spots and make sure you make a lot of memories rather than just focusing on completing the trek.
• Respect the cleanliness
Always respect the mountains because it's the beauty that one needs to take care of. Carry a small garbage bag and never litter or throw garbage here and there.
• Keep your spirit high
Many times during the trek, you will feel as if quitting everything and going back to your comfort zone. But this is just in your head. Never underestimate yourself and just go with the flow. You can always complete what you have started and you just need to push your limits. With time you will fall in love with the mountains.
Types of trek
There are different types of training that one can do. We will tell you some different types of trekking that you can do which will be so much fun.
1. Easy Trekking
This is known to be the simplest of all the trekking. This type of trekking can also be done with kids as well as by the older group of people. The roads that you will get on the journey are smooth and filled with nature and plain areas. Rest assured that you will be able to do it in a short period.
2. Medium Difficulty trekking
Coming to the next type of trekking, this trekking will offer you some challenges as compared to the previous type of trek. You need more energy and enthusiasm throughout the process which will be worth it.
The distance that you will be covering in this type of trek will be a little more and it will take you longer to complete the whole trek.
3. Difficult trekking
As the name suggests, the difficulty in this type of trek will be much higher and it is advised that only people above the age of 21 do it. You will be experiencing high altitudes, rough roads, harsh weather, and intense training for this type of trekking.
Due to the high altitudes, training becomes necessary so that the trekking process becomes easier.
4. Dessert trekking
Again, as the name suggests, this trekking means trekking in the desert region where you won't have mountains or hills but rather you will find most of the sand and desserts. You might feel that this is easy compared to mountain trekking but that is not true.
You will be trekking in a barren desert where there is very less population as compared to the mountains so there are also chances of getting lost.
